Swords 1sts 2-0 Pembroke
Swords 1st team got their league campaign back on track this week with a valuable 3 points against Pembroke. There were concerns of another draw on the cards as Swords failed to convert any of their chances in the first half, despite some great interplay. Swords controlled the game from midfield, with Lee-Ann Wood in particular standing out, but it was the finishing up front that let them down after some great chances were created. Swords won multiple short corners, but it wasn`t until midway in the second half that they managed to convert one into a goal and break the deadlock. A switch between Cerrie Byrne and Marian O`Brien at the top of the circle saw Siobhan McKittrick dive and shoot the ball past the `keeper. Swords grew in confidence after that and were unlucky not to have scored a few more after some great attacking play. Breda Orohoe, however, made sure of the result 10 minutes from time after receiving a pass on the right and driving into the circle to finish the ball superbly past the `keeper.
